Asheville Community Theatre is proud to announce the Asheville Jams concert series, which will bring local musicians to the ACT stage. The inaugural concert will feature Balsam Range, one of the hottest Bluegrass groups in Western North Carolina. Balsam Range is comprised of Marc Pruett on banjo, Caleb Smith on guitar, Darren Nicholson on mandolin, Tim Surrett on bass and Buddy Melton on fiddle. Balsam Range will appear on Sunday, February 10 at 3:00 pm.
Tickets may be purchased in advance online at www.ashevilletheatre.org , over the phone by calling 828-254-1320 or in person at the Asheville Community Theatre Box Office at 35 E. Walnut in Asheville. All tickets for Balsam Range are $15.
Balsam Range recently released their first album, Marching Home. The album features six great Bill Monroe songs and seven original tunes written by band members and by today's premier songwriters. Marching Home grabs your attention from the start with the rocking bluegrass "The Train's Ready" as well as "Calloway County Flood" and fan favorite "Burning Georgia Down."
Since its inception, Asheville Community Theatre has always been a supporter of local talent. Stage productions at ACT have starred local actors for 62 years and the Lobby Gallery has displayed the work of local visual artists for 6 years. Now Asheville Community Theatre is excited to expand that support to showcase local musicians in a concert series. The series will run February through August 2008 with five concerts on the ACT Mainstage with ticket prices ranging from $10-$15. Asheville Jams is sponsored by Greenlife.
Tentative upcoming concerts include:
